At Immanuel, we value marriages and we want every marriage to be a healthy & strong picture of what God intended it to be.
Recently, Jeff and I enjoyed the opportunity of walking around the neighborhood with our three precious granddaughters along with our daughter and son-in-law. I must have been walking behind the girls at one point, causing Olivia to slow her pace, look up, smile at me, and state, “I’ll be your friend.” She then began walking alongside me, taking my hand. Immediately, Jeff and I locked eyes, and I knew the subject of my next blog…our best friend.
Such sweet words! These were the melodious words of Jeff a few evenings ago as we were casually dining in our recliners (This didn’t happen when our children were still home, but empty nesting will sometimes quietly maneuver you from the dining table right into those comfy chairs!). I instantaneously continued the phrase singing, “I’m so glad you came into my life!”
Seems like an easy concept doesn’t it. Especially when we think back to our engagement, and our perspective of life was viewed through those rose-colored glasses. Who wouldn’t love the one we chose to travel down the path of life with? Who wouldn’t appreciate all those little idiosyncrasies? Seriously, how could we have found anyone more suited for us…who could be funnier, cuter or more kind and compassionate?
